An entrepreneur’s manual for delegating to an independent assistant (3/3)

Part 3. Let go and trust!

I've talked to you about what tasks to delegate and how to delegate well. Now its time to take action, but you have to be ready to hand over to your independent assistant!

Develop a let go approach, it's time to hand over, to pass the baton

While the process of onboarding your independent assistant and writing her instructions may be difficult at first, your biggest challenge will probably be to let go. You need to learn to appreciate your new power of delegation. There are several ways to do this.

Realise that you do not need to control everything

A great way to show yourself that not everything needs your personal touch is to start delegating the activities that bore you. Once you see how much easier this makes your life, start thinking about what other areas of your business could be improved.

Accept that your business is bigger than you are

You had the vision, but your business is already much bigger than that initial idea. You have realised that you cant do everything, or even know everything about your niche and all the aspects of running a business. Wanting to keep control will only hurt your business in the long run.

Seize the opportunity for new perspectives

If you try to do everything yourself, you will be limited in your ideas. Innovation is richer when several people are involved in the creative process. Bringing in an independent assistant, perhaps even from another background, to support your business can improve problem-solving, streamline processes and give you new ideas to improve your offerings.

Trust your independent assistant

All of the above is only possible if you trust your independent assistant to pay attention to detail, deliver high-quality work and be accurate.

To build up and gain your trust so that you can hand over to me, let's get to know each other, contact me!
